This was a commissioned work by the curator Lina Tsikouta on belhalf of the Averoff Art Gallery in Metsovo, Greece. Metsovo is the village of the family of my father, where I used to spend summer and other holidays as a child. It lies in the mountain region of Epirus where nature reigns. The result was a very personal work dealing with place and memory. The memories and experiences I worked with were playing inside the hollows of trees, the image and idea of roots and photographs of my great grandfathers which decorated the walls of the family house in Metsovo.
A very personal work, created especially for the exhibition. Metsovo is where my father’s family comes form and where I spent part of the summer every year as a child and teenager. The work deals with how memory is rooted in the landscape.
